GLOBALIZATION AND THE ROLE OF THE STATE
Date: TBA
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Within the span of a single generation, the international community has experienced an exponential growth in social, political and economic interdependence. Rising globalization has brought with it integration and cooperation that transcends borders. However, we cannot solely acknowledge the benefits of globalization. As society progresses in numerous realms, nations must now decide whether or not law and order that is legitimized within its own borders is acceptable on an international level.

Conversely, international organizations have their own responsibility. How can such different countries - each with its own rich history and culture - find a common ground when it comes to controversial topics such as human rights, crimes against humanity and effective governance? To what extent can an organization like the United Nations play an integral role in the evolution of the international community? Nonetheless, each nation must now acknowledge the effect of its governmental decisions not only on its own citizens, but on the world.

Non nobis solum sed omnibus.

Not for ourselves only, but for all.
